Created attachment 304771 [details] error text. kde-base/ffmpegthumbs-4.8.1 needs a version of ffmpeg newer then the stable 0.7.8 to build otherwise it error's out right after the configure phase. steps to repeat. 1. have version 0.7.8 of ffmpeg installed 2. try to install kde-base/ffmpegthumbs-4.8.1 3. compile crashes after configure phase. attached is the error output of ffmpegthumbs if compiled against the stable version of ffmpeg.

Created attachment 304867 [details, diff] Fixed version of kde-base/ffmpegthumbs/files/ffmpegthumbs-4.8.1-ffmpeg.patch The patch that comes with ffmpegthumbs-4.8.1 unconditionally uses the function avformat_close_input instead of av_close_input_file. That function however, was only introduced in libavformat major version 54. With the updated patch (attached), ffmpegthumbs should compile fine, both with media-video/ffmpeg-0.7.8 and with newer versions.
i am a bit of a novice at editing ebuilds, don't know how to add it to the ebuild to test it..
