Description Ulenrich 2012-03-04 13:38:34 UTC
kmod home mirgrated to kernel.org:
SRC_URI="http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/kmod/${P}.tar.xz"
HOMEPAGE="http://git.kernel.org/?p=utils/kernel/kmod/kmod.git"

kmod-6 is needed
when using dracut for building an initrd, because of a bug when
modprobe --show-depends MODUL

Forgotten promise!
Comment 3 Ulenrich 2012-03-07 20:17:29 UTC
Worth to mention:
Debian~unstable has just changed their module-init-tools to kmod-6

I had a personal issue that was quite urgent and I had to handle that situation. Please refrain from posting comments like this without knowing the situation.

@William Hubbs, please excuse me!

Regarding the $portdir/profiles/Changelog:

"09 Jan 2012; William Hubbs <williamh@gentoo.org> package.mask:
  add sys-apps/kmod to the udev mask"

I have tested amd64 using

sys-fs/udev-181
sys-fs/udev-init-scripts-8
sys-kernel/dracut-017-r1
sys-apps/kmod-6

works!
Though not tested dracut usrmount feature - not having an extra /usr partition.

kmod-6 is in the tree.
