The post installation instructions of mediawiki-1.18.1 list the 'math' use flag and $wgUseTeX but mediawiki does not have such a useflag nor does it state TeX in the (generated) LocalSettings.php file.

I think only the 'math support' bit has to be removed from the post install instruction.
