Description Aidan Marks 2012-02-11 03:05:03 UTC
sys-apps/util-linux-2.20.1-r1
sys-fs/udisks-1.0.4-r2

/bin/umount /media/FOO (udisk mounted volume through KDE) no longer works. strace shows /bin/umount looking for /sbin/umount.udisks but that has now been moved to /usr/sbin. re-emerging util-linux did nothing.

creating a symlink in /sbin is a work around.

I believe this is a regression from #398081.

Reproducible: Always

I don't see other way of solving this than patching sys-apps/util-linux to search also in /usr/sbin since we can't move umount.udisks to / because it links to glib, dbus, and so forth

patches welcome, otherwise i'm going to just wait until util-linux has been moved to /usr too
Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2012-02-16 20:09:37 UTC
we already have search paths for fsck and mount. trivial to make umount use the same logic. i posted a patch upstream.
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2012-02-16 20:11:06 UTC
should be all set now in the tree; thanks for the report!

Commit message: Have umount search /usr/sbin like mount/fsck

that's pretty neat, thanks Mike

All working fine now. Thanks very much for the prompt fix.
