Description guillaume destuynder 2002-06-21 08:17:22 UTC
Hi!

Please find attached shxd-0.2.1.tbz2 which contain the ebuild.
It is an improved fork of HXD, an Hotline server for X. Hotline is a quite used
mix of ftp/news/irc which first appeared on the MacOS. See www.hotlinex.org,
synhxd.sf.net and www.vivahx.com for more info.
The shx ebuild will follow (it is the x client)
Suggested clients (ebuild already existing) are fidelio and gtkhx.

I suggest net-misc/shxd :)
I'll put the 0.2.5 update when the author will make it available on www or ftp
(wget doesn't do hotline yet :D)

Comment 3 Owen Stampflee (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-07-09 11:51:39 UTC
Ooops, didn't realize you had tarballed it.
Comment 4 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-22 13:07:58 UTC
could any of you guys ?
Comment 5 Luca Barbato gentoo-dev 2003-06-08 15:52:16 UTC
why it was assigned to ppc?
Comment 6 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-06-09 23:28:37 UTC
lu_zero: cause you ppc guys can use MacOS, on which this package runs beside linux. could make it much easier
Comment 7 Jon Portnoy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-23 18:33:08 UTC
Talk about an old bug...

Is there a newer version of this available, now that it's a year later? If so, would the original author like to update the ebuild (and please post as plain text rather than a tarball)?
Comment 8 Guillaume Destuynder (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-20 08:46:54 UTC
hi,
i had pushed this ebuild hmm one or two years ago and it's still not included.
shxd is now above version 0.4.
However, since this, i had to change bugzilla account (my @mac.com isn't
working anymore)

A few other things:
shxd isn't a ppc/macos specific thing
I'm now developping mhxd, some merge of different softwares equivalent to
shxd
It also includes hx, the client for this software.
mhxd has ebuilds for both client and server (hx and mhxd)
one is already in test on http://www.breakmygentoo.net/ebuilds/hx-0.4.2.ebuild.tar.bz2
Please check:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31601 (mhxd)
and
://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31603 (hx)

thanks

As it is not ppc-specific I can strike out ppc@gentoo.org from the Cc list.
Comment 10 Guillaume Destuynder (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-14 10:55:10 UTC
So so
i posted that stuff 2002-06-21 08:20 PST

I'm still waiting for inclusion.
I agree stuff can take time, but we're in 2004 now, ain't that waiting a *bit* long?
Don't know, maybe reject all the related ebuilds or something if you don't want them ;)
Unless you really think i should wait another couple of *YEARS*

Thanks for anyone looking this thing up

related bugs are:
31601 and 31603
Comment 11 Jon Portnoy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-14 11:02:19 UTC
No longer interested in maintaining hotline-related applications, reassigning to bug-wranglers.
Comment 12 Stuart Herbert (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-17 08:34:29 UTC
Sorry - I don't maintain hotline stuff either. Why has this come to me?

shxd-0.4.9.ebuild (part)

Trying to work out how to install which parts where and it's horrible. Can some
guidance be devised for this. Configuration files in /etc/shxd and script
wrappers in /usr/lib/shxd(?). Other data files /usr/share/shxd.

Most programs use @datadir@ @configdir@ an other nice stuff from the configure
script. This way absolute paths can be incorportated into the executabe.
Comment 14 Guillaume Destuynder (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-07 03:17:19 UTC
Hey,
mhxd now includes shxd, but it's better somehow. I'm not sure that we need to have both in portage now.
I know that i posted this bug *TWO* years ago ;)

Anyway, checkout #31601

hotline uses many things which aren't looking very standard, i've put the single config file into /etc, accounts/files stuff in /var/mhxd (its mostly where it belongs, you can't put accounts into /etc because they include file trees etc, which can take much much place... that's hotline;)

For such reasons I think that using makefile for installation has never been done. in mhxd everything is installed in a sub directory which you can move where you want it
I just moved conf/binaries where they belong

I think that this (shxd) bug can be closed

I will if no one else will.
