$ eselect ruby show
Current Ruby version:
  ruby19   ##     dev-lang/ruby-1.9.3_p0
Current Rubygems version:
  gem19

>>> Emerging (5 of 13) dev-ruby/rb-inotify-0.8.8
 * Running compile phase for all ...
Jeweler (or a dependency) not available. Install it with: sudo gem install jeweler
rake aborted!
Don't know how to build task 'build'

dev-ruby/jeweler-1.6.4 installed

Problem:
ruby19 executes "rake build" -> only gems for ruby 1.9 used -> jeweler needed for "rake build" -> but jeweler only available in portage for ruby 1.8 -> gem not found

Solution:
call "rake build" with ruby-1.8

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. set ruby-1.9.3 as default ruby
2. try to install rb-inotify
3.
Actual Results:

We don't officially support selecting anything but ruby19 (but I don't think we actually tell you anywhere).

I'll have a look at this later.

Hmm, I meant to say "ruby18" here.

In any case this is a case of a missing jeweler dependency, but I've fixed it by avoiding the need for jeweler altogether.
