In /usr/share/portage/config/make.globals CONFIGURE_EPREFIX is left unset like this....

CONFIGURE_EPREFIX=

which results in this error....

ParseError: Invalid token '0700' (not '='): /usr/share/portage/config/make.globals: line 139 in /usr/share/portage/config/make.globals

When EPREFIX is "", then it should be....

CONFIGURE_EPREFIX=""
