Created attachment 297149 [details] updated patch MakeMKV 1.7.0 for Linux is available. released ( 21.12.2011 ) I bumped the latest ebuild from the tree (1.6.16), updated the patch to the new version number. All installed and is working well so far.
Love to see this in portage....
I did the same as comment #1. It seemed to compile & merge fine, but crashes immediately on startup (GUI version pops up a dialog saying "Fatal error occurred, program will now exit"; console version segfaults).
At me. I can run it. I only currently no BluRay test it to continue. I just get the following output: MakeMKV v1.7.0 linux(x64-release) started Profile parsing error: default profile missing, using builtin default My portage date but it is yet: Timestamp of tree: Fri, 07 Oct 2011 07:45:01 +0000
I have got the same output (“Profile parsing error: default profile missing, using builtin default”). But the software works with Bluray. Same result if I compile by myself without portage. The message is still here.
At least the new 1.7.1 release works fine and the old 1.6.16 is not available anymore, i think the ebuild should be updated to a new version.
1.7.2 is now out. the ebuild should be updated in the tree. i will build and install 1.7.2 tonight and report any issues.
1.7.2 works fine for me on 64-bit. I know nothing yet about making ebuilds but i hope someone can update this on the tree.

I just renamed ebuild, and deleting all src_prepare function, and it does load (though I don't have a BD video now to full test).

no need to fix links to get an older version. it needs to be bumped to latest which is now 1.7.3 i will be trying to at least make an ebuild to upload here tonight. the only thing i am confused about is the patch that get applied not sure how to update that.
Created attachment 307779 [details] makemkv-1.7.3-makefile.linux.patch Here the patch. Merge works, but my program end with "fatal error" after 2 sec :-\

I would like to ask that when will be this ebuild (1.7.3) part of the portage tree? I can't see it in the tree only 1.6.16. Is part of a layman repository? Thanks in advance!

steve/beandog -- if you don't have time to update this ebuild, I'd be happy to bump it to portage or even take over maintainership...looks like this bug has been open for over 6 months and the existing ebuild has not been functional for 3+ months due to incorrect download url.
SRC_URI naming scheme changed. 1.7.5 needs this: -MY_P="makemkv_v${PV}_oss" -MY_PB="makemkv_v${PV}_bin" +MY_P="makemkv-oss-${PV}" +MY_PB="makemkv-bin-${PV}"
I too would like to add a bump-request to the current version (1.75 as of June 28, 2012): http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=224 The current unstable (~amd64) ebuild calls for 1.6.16, which is not available; hence the current ebuild is broken-and-worthless. Thank-you!

Since he has not answered, we can assume he has no time, and you are OK to take over this package. I will reassign this to you with the video herd as backup maintainer.
updating ebuild now and changing metadata to reflect maintainership. will have new ebuild in tree shortly.
1.7.4-r1 now in tree. Broken 1.6.* releases removed. We may need to further refine ebuild and bump for newer beta releases. New bugs should be opened for those issues. Closing this one.
And again :) 1.7.7 is there. Works with makefile patch from 1.7.6.
