Description Jonathan Lovelace 2011-12-16 00:24:45 UTC
=www-client/chromium-16.0.912.63 (like, I seem to recall, most prior versions) fails the test DnsConfigServiceTest.GetSystemConfig for me. I finally thought that my large /etc/hosts (I use the one from http://hosts-file.net ) might be at fault, and so temporarily truncated it to what I really need for my local network ... and the test (run using "ebuild /path/to/ebuild test", as the build including tests took over five hours) passed. Whether the failure comes from the length or that it gives the (invalid) address 0.0.0.0 to a lot of unwanted sites, I don't know.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download the hosts file from hosts-file.net and add it to /etc/hosts
2. emerge -1v =www-client/chromium-16.0.912.63

Actual Results:
The test DnsConfigServiceTest.GetSystemConfig fails

Expected Results:
All tests should pass

I'll attach a build log showing the failing test(s).

Build log (compressed) showing failing test
Comment 2 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2011-12-16 01:17:00 UTC
This does not seem like a Gentoo-specific behavior to me. I think it would be better to deal with this upstream.
Comment 3 Jonathan Lovelace 2011-12-16 02:17:53 UTC
Yes, this is probably not Gentoo-specific; I've now reported it upstream (see URL). But if this is confirmed it'd be a kindness to disable this test (or mark it as flaky, which I think lets it run but doesn't hard-fail the build on a test failure) until it's fixed, as the package does take (my machine) on the order of six hours to build.

For what it's worth, after changing the 0.0.0.0s to 127.0.0.1 in my /etc/hosts the test still fails, so it's pretty clearly triggered by the *size* of my hosts file.
Comment 4 Paweł Hajdan, Jr. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-01-11 18:01:54 UTC
This test is now skipped in chromium-18.x.
