...so the obvious question follows: which version(s) of boost do you have installed (with useflags) and 'eselect boost list' ?
Rafal, I am using the latest stable boost release: dev-libs/boost-1.46.1-r1 was built with the following: USE="eselect (multilib) python -debug -doc -icu -mpi -static-libs -test -tools" CFLAGS="-march=native -fno-strict-aliasing" CXXFLAGS="-march=native -fno-strict-aliasing" BTW, the same compile error is also reproduced from the original source code downloaded from the povray site.
Hi! I just downloaded the original source code of povray-3.7.0.RC3 and could successfully compile with the following additional configure option --with-boost-thread=boost_thread-mt as also indicated on http://www.povray.org/beta/source/. This seems to be necessary on most 64-bit platforms. Could you please add it to the ebuild (or at least include a USE flag to enable this configure option)? Thanks! Best, Mike
OK, thanks for the fix. I have added this line and tested building, and it works here as well (even though failure was not always easy to reproduce). Please test again after the change to -r1 hits the tree and reopen bug if not fixed.

If this build is not picking up your sys flags, let me know...
Sorry, if I wasn't clear in my last comment. My default /etc/make.conf contains CFLAGS="-march=native". This sometimes causes problems. For a successful compilation of povray (apart from the new ebuild setting) I had to override manually with env CFLAGS="-O2" CXXFLAGS="-O2" USE emerge -av media-gfx/povray. Best, Mike
