Description Randy Barlow 2011-12-07 20:45:26 UTC
Pietray.py is a plugin for finch that will give you notifications when you receive messages. It is part of the source package that the ebuild uses (in finch/plugins/pietray.py), but it seems that the ebuild does not install it, even if the python use flag is set.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install pidgin with the python use flag set.

Actual Results:
equery files pidgin does not include pietray.py.

Expected Results:
I would expect to be able to enable pietray inside finch.

Thank you for report. Fixed in pidgin-2.10.1.

Awesome, thanks for the super quick response! One question though:

I note that the plugin gets installed in /usr/share/doc/pidgin-2.10.1/pietray.py, which means it doesn't show up in the list of plugins that finch will automatically find for you. Are users intended to have to go and install the plugin from /usr/share? Or should the plugin be in the list of plugins that finch can see?

Oh, I think I understand. It seems that pietray might not really be a plugin at all, but a freestanding Python application that's meant to be run while Finch is running. Sorry for the confusion!
