There's no need for explicit dodoc, you could use 'local DOCS=( ... )' in src_install().

I will fix it, but please educate me: Is there an advantage of DOCS over dodoc/newdoc?

No, don't think so. It's just about reusing the thing that is parsed anyway vs calling that explicitly. At some point, however, DOCS may support e.g. docfiles in build dir which clear dodoc would require specifying explicitly.

Ah, and backslashes in myeconfargs are not necessary.
