As reported in bug #389119, gnome-extra/gnome-media installs several default audio encoding profiles which require specific gstreamer plugins to be functional. USE flags to pull in these plugins have therefore been added to the gnome-media ebuild. Unfortunately, some of these plugins are not keyworded on arm, ia64, and sparc, even though the underlying encoding libraries are keyworded. As a result, I have had to package.use.mask these flags on arm, ia64, and sparc. arm: please keyword media-plugins/gst-plugins-faac media-plugins/gst-plugins-lame media-plugins/gst-plugins-speex media-plugins/gst-plugins-twolame to remove "gnome-extra/gnome-media aac mp3 speex twolame" from your package.use.mask. ia64: please keyword media-plugins/gst-plugins-faac media-plugins/gst-plugins-lame media-plugins/gst-plugins-twolame to remove "gnome-extra/gnome-media aac mp3 twolame" from your package.use.mask. sparc: please keyword media-plugins/gst-plugins-faac to remove "gnome-extra/gnome-media aac" from your package.use.mask.

Please don't forget to check your keywords on gnome-media-3.4 as well.
ia64, sparc done @gnome: I didn't touch package.use.mask, feel free to do it when is needed.
