Description Ian Abbott 2011-09-28 20:42:51 UTC
I get the following error during the configure phase:

Error: pa check failed
Make sure to have the pa libs and headers installed.

The config.log ends with the following:

x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -m64 -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -D_GNU_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -Wstrict-prototypes -Wredundant-decls -Wall -Wundef -Wendif-labels -Wwrite-strings -Wmissing-prototypes -fno-strict-aliasing -fstack-protector-all -Wmissing-include-dirs -Wempty-body -Wnested-externs -Wformat-security -Wformat-y2k -Winit-self -Wignored-qualifiers -Wold-style-declaration -Wold-style-definition -Wtype-limits -o /var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/qemu-0.14.0/temp/qemu-conf-6964-5508-4213.exe /var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/qemu-0.14.0/temp/qemu-conf-23252-5508-9480.c -m64 -g -Wl,-z,execheap -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -lpulse-simple -lpulse
/var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/qemu-0.14.0/temp/qemu-conf-23252-5508-9480.c: In function ‘main’:
/var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/qemu-0.14.0/temp/qemu-conf-23252-5508-9480.c:2:33: error: ‘NULL’ undeclared (first use in this function)
/var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/qemu-0.14.0/temp/qemu-conf-23252-5508-9480.c:2:33: note: each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in

The error here is that NULL is undeclared. This configuration test comes from this section of the configure script:

    pa)
    audio_drv_probe $drv pulse/simple.h "-lpulse-simple -lpulse" \
        "pa_simple *s = NULL; pa_simple_free(s); return 0;"
    libs_softmmu="-lpulse -lpulse-simple $libs_softmmu"
    audio_pt_int="yes"
    ;;

A simple patch would be to change the configure script to use 0 or (void *)0 instead of NULL.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -1 =media-sound/pulseaudio-1.0
2. USE="pulseaudio" emerge -1 =app-emulation/qemu-0.14.0

$ emerge --info =app-emulation/qemu-0.14.0

Or that check should include a "#include <stddef.h>", but to be honest, I don't understand what the check is trying to achieve that shouldn't be done by just checking for the existence of PA headers/libs.

The existing audio_drv_probe() shell function in the configure script is pretty limited and wouldn't allow the addition of a "#include <stddef.h>".

qemu-0.11.1-pulesaudio-1.1.patch

Alternative patch taking the `#include <stddef.h>' approach.
