Seems to be an odd build problem this "Error 129". Please upgrade to the newest gcc, or at least binutils. Is this the only package you have problems with ? It's really a gcc problem (core dump), see http://www.unixguide.net/linux/faq/09.06.shtml
Comment 4 Thomas Beutin 2004-02-01 12:57:01 UTC
Hi,

i'm using the following versions:
*  sys-devel/gcc
      Latest version available: 3.2.3-r3
      Latest version installed: 3.2.3-r3
*  sys-devel/binutils
      Latest version available: 2.14.90.0.7-r4
      Latest version installed: 2.14.90.0.7-r4

Compiling still fails, but it's not looking like a hardware failure
because the compile fails always on the same file (i know the sig11
problem from a buggy linux/adaptec team 7 years ago ;-)

Is the failure only gentoo related?
Comment 5 Thomas Beutin 2004-02-08 06:44:52 UTC
Hi folks,

i installed the new gcc 3.3.5 compiler suite, and now the compiling stops on another file:

Comment 6 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-08 06:55:32 UTC
I'm curious as to why both of the optimisations occur twice in the compiler line, but I don't have time to look into it now, so this is a reminder for me to do it when i can:

-march=i386 -fPIC -DPIC
and
-Wall -O3 -funroll-loops -mcpu=i486

exist on the line.

I have exactly the same problem.

Would you try djvu-3.5.12.ebuild ? I had the same error as you
posted here with 3.5.9 but 3.5.12 compiles fine (so I marked
it stable on x86).
Comment 9 Thomas Beutin 2004-02-21 06:09:33 UTC
Yes, i tried djvu-3.5.12 and it compiles fine. Who can close this bug?

Thanks a lot, guys; i like gentoo!

Greetings from Berlin!
