I am forced to still use 2.6.38 kernel as it's the latest one with tuxonice support in gentoo. The problem is that it needs iwl1000-ucode-128.50.3.1 as it provides iwlwifi-1000-3.ucode instead of iwlwifi-1000-5.ucode Then, old version needs to be reintroduced and probably on a different slot Reproducible: Always
I've restored the old version in SLOT 3, without keywords.
Thanks, if you ever want to keyword it on amd64 feel free to ask me for testing :-)
(In reply to comment #2) > Thanks, if you ever want to keyword it on amd64 feel free to ask me for > testing Can't keyword due to upstream's strange versioning scheme (the newer version has a smaller version number).
In that case maybe a warning should be shown by iwl1000-ucode-39.31.5.1.ebuild telling people using kernel-2.6.38 or older (haven't tried 2.6.39 yet :S) to use unkeyworded version, otherwise people will get 39.31.5.1 version installed and trying to use an unkeyworded version for older kernels doesn't seem to obvious for me if not knowing this bug
According to my logs, I had used iwl1000-ucode-39.31.5.1 together with gentoo-sources-2.6.39 on my laptop. (Could somebody please independently verify that this combination works?) The ebuild now outputs a warning in pkg_pretend if the kernel is older than 2.6.39.
Thanks a lot
