It's the "popular" issue with sys-libs/zlib, see bug #383179. Search for bugs with "sys-libs/zlib-1.2.5.1-r1" in their summary.
mask =sys-libs/zlib-1.2.5.1-r1 helps to me Thank you, Matthias Liebig
(In reply to comment #6) > mask =sys-libs/zlib-1.2.5.1-r1 helps to me Could you please re-open the bug and put something like "fails to build with sys-libs/zlib-1.2.5.1-r1" in the summary? The problem still persists. I am no Gentoo dev, so I don't know what the course of action will be. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to tell erlang upstream about it, so that they might fix it. There's some discussion going on in bug #383351 (about vlc with the same issue).

(In reply to comment #9) > Or I should open new bug? There should be a "(edit)" link next to "emerge failed" at the top of the page. I don't think it's necessary to create a new bug. A maintainer will probably attend to it, if you lack the permissions to apply those changes.

Created attachment 293131 [details, diff] Combined patch for zlib & JDK7 sandbox violation This is a unified patch against the 14.2.3 ebuild in portage; it contains both the zlib fix and also a sandbox violation countermeasure when building the java lib with JDK7. It should work for both 14.2.3 and 14.2.4. I tested this while trying to bump erlang to the latest 14.2.4 (aka R14B04) and it works for me on ~x86.
(In reply to comment #14) I just saw that the sandbox fix has been incorporated into the latest jdk 1.7.0.1-r2 proper, so strictly speaking it's not necessary any more to make this part of every ebuild. I was using a newer jdk from my overlay without that particular fix.
I've just put erlang-14.2.4 in the tree, with the zlib fix. It sounds like you know your way around this package. I could use your help!
erlang-13.2.4 (stable) is also broken the same way with zlib-1.2.5.1-r2(~arch) which is required by virtuoso-server-6.1.4(~arch) I'm not sure if this constitutes a "new" bug or not, because as far as I am concerned, it is the same bug in an older version.
