First, I'd just like to say thanks to whoever got the ati drivers working again. They've been broken for me for a very long time and its great to have 3d again and some of the 2d glitches have been fixed. So please please please don't risk breaking them again for this which is minor. But I've noted that upon logging out of kde (to console), the little dialog with the moon comes up, but underneath, there's no desktop just this fuzz and sometimes with whatever windows were open before I logged out, as if some graphics card drive wasn't cleared before drawing that screen. Additionally, and these both may be kde problems rather than problems with the driver, but for instance going to KDE desktop settings, the text underneath the current wallpaper (title, author, image size) isn't there. And it shows up if you select a different wallpaper but then that wallpaper's text goes away. Somehow I get the feeling this is a related bug, something kde/qt expects from the graphics drivers with the logout as well. There's another bug https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372299 that may or may not be related to this. But again, thanks for getting it working as well as it is again! =) and please don't risk the stable build for these minor issues. Reproducible: Always
The background garbage is an xorg-server bug, https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31017 The KDE corruption is bug 354101
Should be fixed by xorg-server-1.11.1, please reopen if it is not.
