OpenAFS 1.2.11 has been released. This release fixes a major bug in the DB servers triggered by a time_t larger than 2^30. Users using replicated DB servers should upgrade immediately.

Renaming the 1.2.10-r2 and removing the fpic options passed to make in src_compile seems to make it compile...
As I am not a maintainer and don't know much about the package I don't know whether it functions properly though..

Perhaps it can be made to build, but it is not the current release (1.2.11).

Ebuild for 1.2.11 OpenAFS

Based on agriffis 1.2.10-r2 patch.  I also renamed his patch which I will
upload in a second so that the patch is not version dependent.
