When compiled with gcc-4.6, mplayer emits a very high pitched sound, making playback unbearable. This has been reported upstream and a work around is available: http://lists-archives.org/mplayer-dev-eng/34349-compiling-mplayer-with-gcc-4-6-broken-audio-decoding.html I can confirm that it fixes the problem. Please add it to the ebuild.

Since this is a blocker for gcc-4.6, I would just like to confirm, too, that the patch works on x86 (two systems tested) and amd64.
Since our media-video herd seems to not give a shit, I committed the patch.
