Description Seraphim Mellos 2011-07-28 15:05:22 UTC
app-admin/collectd-5.0.0-r1 requires libgcrypt to be installed in the system otherwise the installation fails with:

 * Failed Running autoconf !
 *
 * Include in your bugreport the contents of:
 *
 *   /var/tmp/portage/app-admin/collectd-5.0.0-r1/temp/autoconf.out

The important part of autoconf.out is the following:

configure.in:1735: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_PATH_LIBGCRYPT
      If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
      See the Autoconf documentation.

If you emege libgcrypt (tried with version 1.4.6) and then collectd, everything works out fine. I guess the correct behavior would be libgcrypt to be pulled with collectd as a dependency.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make sure that you don't have libgcrypt installed (emerge -C libgcrypt)
2. emerge collectd
3. get error when autoconf is running
Actual Results:
 * Failed Running autoconf !
 *
 * Include in your bugreport the contents of:
 *
 *   /var/tmp/portage/app-admin/collectd-5.0.0-r1/temp/autoconf.out

Expected Results:
Emerge completes successfully

Autoconf.out from emerge

This is the autoconf log from emerging collectd without libgcrypt installed on the system.
Comment 2 Johan Bergström 2011-08-23 09:15:26 UTC
This looks like an auto* bug, I've notified upstream. FWIW, the OpenWRT package adds a patch for this macro if libgcrypt isn't used
Comment 3 Johan Bergström 2011-08-26 13:26:51 UTC
OK, this isn't really a bug. Collectd _needs_ that m4 macro in order to correctly generate a configure. What we could do is sed away relevant parts if network auth (i.e., where libgcrypt is needed) if unnecessary. The easiest way to resolve would be to add a dep to libgcrypt no matter what.

Dependency added... I dont like it, but as you say it everything else may be messy...
