Is this compatible with version 3? The release notes mention "THIS CHANGES BEHAVIOR!!!!" quote a few times.

Maybe it's not a good idea to blindly put this in portage unmasked just like that without research first.

Nikos, this is per upstream stable package and thus it's possible that one day it'll enter arch tree. We need to check that this _per upstream stable package_ works with other packages and this is why ~arch exists in the first place. Hardmasking is for per upstream unstable packages. That said, sometimes we do hardmask per upstream stable package. This happens in case we expecte that most of packages will start to fail due to version bump. In this case this is not evident and personally I don't expect lot's of packages to fail.

I know, I know.  I'm just saying, since I was afraid this might be a bomb drop on ~amd64 (~amd64 is for testing, not for having bombs explode in your face.)  But it seems you guys know what you're doing, so I guess all is well.
