Gentoo cannot mirror the distfiles, per licensing restrictions. Gentoo fetches a specific URL as part of installing www-plugins/google-talklugin. Google has released a new version, and so that specific URL is no longer valid. Error from ebuild requests that I file this bug after searching for existing bugs. Note, I followed the instructions found here: http://intosimple.blogspot.com/2011/06/installing-google-talk-plugin-in-gentoo.html Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. unmask =www-plugins/google-talkplugin-2.1.6.0 ~amd64 2. emerge www-plugins/google-talkplugin Actual Results: !!! Couldn't download 'google-talkplugin_2.1.6.0-1_amd64.deb'. Aborting. * Fetch failed for 'www-plugins/google-talkplugin-2.1.6.0', Log file: * '/var/tmp/portage/www-plugins/google-talkplugin-2.1.6.0/temp/build.log' * This version is no longer available from Google. * Note that Gentoo cannot mirror the distfiles due to license reasons, so we have to follow the bump. * Please file a version bump bug on http://bugs.gentoo.org (search existing bugs for google-talkplugin first!). Expected Results: It would install google-talkplugin. (Marking as a major feature being broken; I can't install the ebuild, but it doesn't prevent existing users from continuing to use it.)
I can confirm the bug, note that when downloading from the website the package filename is google-talkplugin_current_amd64.deb
(In reply to comment #1) > I can confirm the bug, note that when downloading from the website the package > filename is google-talkplugin_current_amd64.deb That's always the download from the main page. _2.1.7.0_ is available from the google servers, though. The package is cleanly written, so just copying 2.1.6.0 to google-talkplugin-2.1.7.0.ebuild and running 'ebuild manifest' on it is enough to get it installed and running.
I will do the bump soon, I just have to check if the deps are still the same.

What portage version are you using? In portage-2.1* changelog.Debian gets unpacked in ${WORKDIR}/usr/share/doc/google-talkplugin ? christoph@epia ~ $ find /var/tmp/portage/www-plugins/google-talkplugin-2.1.7.0/work/ -name changelog.Debian /var/tmp/portage/www-plugins/google-talkplugin-2.1.7.0/work/usr/share/doc/google-talkplugin/changelog.Debian

Oops. I was behind a firewall that blocked the download. It's working fine for me. Sorry for the confusion.
