Hi dear all,
If I understand it properly, openbox shouldn't require pango USE=X anymore:
So I've removed in /etc/portage/package.use. Consequently:

emerge -uDN world -vp
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Did you run revdep-rebuild when you re-emerged pango with -X ?

That was my fault. Openbox still needs pango[X]. I fixed the dependency. Sorry for the noise.
