Description Vlastimil Holer 2004-01-02 02:40:04 UTC
Hi,

we have file server which has 2500 nfs exports. In nfs startup script is 30 sec. timeout for exportfs. That is not enough for us so I modified script and changed timeout to be taken from configuration.

See attached patch.

Have a nice day,
Vlasta

I like this also. I want to ask though if anyone knows how we came up with the number 30 for the default. Maybe we should make it higher since in many common configurations nfs takes longer then 30 seconds, and we end up killing exportfs before it finishes. At the same time we dont want the machine to lock indefinitly. I don't know what the default should be but I think 30 seconds is too short.

added the option to configure exportfs timeout to nfs-utils-1.0.6-r3, thanks

...and I added a default of 30 seconds in case EXPORTFSTIMEOUT is unset in the configuration file, -r4
