Comment on attachment 275273 [details] Build log fails to build for me too after upgrading to parted-3.0
Those functions were removed in 3.0 without any replacement. Have you reported this to gparted upstream already?
I ran into the same issue. I wonder if the version gparted 0.8.1 fixes the issue. That was released May 23 and is not yet in Portage.
I submitted a bug report upstream at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=651559 but I don't know how they'd go about trying to fix it without (conditionally) removing the same functionality from gparted as has been removed from parted, namely all the file system resizing stuff. I suggest depending on '<sys-block/parted-3.0' for now.
Confirmed here, of course. So the file system manipulation capabilities of parted are just gone?
This is from the Changelog for version 3.0: Remove all FS-related (file system-related) sub-commands; these commands are no longer recognized because they were all dependent on parted "knowing" too much about file system: mkpartfs, mkfs, cp, move, check, resize. This change removes not just the user interface bits, but also the library functions and nearly all of the underlying FS-munging code. The code embedded in Parted by which it knew about those file systems was so old, unmaintainable and buggy that while seemingly drastic, this change is like removing a gangrenous toe. WTF is going to use it now? Not me :(
sys-block/partitionmanager-1.0.3 have the same problem http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369423

(In reply to comment #4) > I ran into the same issue. I wonder if the version gparted 0.8.1 fixes the > issue. That was released May 23 and is not yet in Portage. Tried this by renaming the 0.8.0 ebuild to 0.8.1 with no success. But the renamed ebuild worked fine after downgrading parted to 2.4.
Yes, the 0.8.1 release works with 2.4 but not 3.0 . I believe this is ultimately an upstream problem and gparted maintainers will need to resolve this. In the meantime, gparted and partitionmanager need to depend on 2.4 and this needs to be fixed in portage.
Added the blocker for now. This bug should now be forwarded to upstream for a real fix but I guess it will take some time.
0.9.0 in portage; it builds now -> closing
