the program compiles well, but the server does not start( probably need another configuration)

Yes, unrealircd's default configuration isn't supposed to work magically. Unfortunately, the best way to see these errors is to edit the initscript and remove the --quiet option from start-stop-daemon and also kill the &>/dev/null redirection.

For convenience, I have attached a patch which I believe should end up in a working unrealircd.
