As per summary, please test with IPMI-enabled systems before marking stable.
(In reply to comment #0) > As per summary, please test with IPMI-enabled systems before marking stable. For x86, I have no way to do this. The absence of reports from ATs seems to indicate that the same applies to them. What should we do?
Infra, sorry to bother you, but you seem to be the only guys who have access to test this. Can you help?

Otherwise we have nothing to do here.
Okay so we can't keep up in the stable tree with freeipmi versions; can we then drop the 0.8.9 one and just let the users know they have to use the ~arch version? Thanks.
Diego, these packages depend on freeipmi net-analyzer/nagios-check_ipmi_sensor sys-power/powerman and other packages depend on this packages as well. dropping keywords will cause a lot of pain. Can't we just keep freeipmi-0.8.9 around as the last stable version of freeipmi?
No we can't, because 0.8.9 IS BROKEN. So you can either keep a keyworded non-working package which is crap, or you can de-keyword the packages. Or you can find somebody to test this.
(In reply to comment #6) > Or you can find somebody to test this. I remember that Tony have hw to test and told me about this package. Tony, can you test and mark stable?

I guess ipmi has to be configured to work probably. With ipmi-sensors i also get an error at the end of the output. Is that normal? Maybe because its not configured? I'll get similar error with other commands too. The /etc/init.d/bmc-watchdog starts successful, but i think the rm command in the init script is useless. the start-stop-daemon deletes already the pid file and thus stopping the service will always fail.. I think its the same with ipmidetectd, but i can't test it because ipmidetectd fails anyway since i didn't configured anything: # ipmidetectd ipmidetectd: No nodes configured If i can do more, let me know :)
about the init scripts.. forget what i said.. i didn't do etc-update ;)
The test request is specifically for x86. We have lots of amd64 test results already.
(In reply to comment #5) > Diego, these packages depend on freeipmi > > net-analyzer/nagios-check_ipmi_sensor > sys-power/powerman x86 stable keyword dropped for those and freeipmi-0.8.9 as requested. I couldn't find any more reverse deps using tinderbox.dev.gentoo.org.

amd64 one way or the other please proceed.
@Infra sorry for cc'ing you directly but I would like to hear from you whether you are able to test freeipmi on our amd64 boxes. Thanks
Infra has been using it so stable for amd64
