I personally don't care if the user gets added or not, as I dont pserver anymore, however I would like to see it changed anyhow. My gripe is that if it is a system user (cvs, ssh, etc) that it be kept under id 1000 or over 65000 so it doesnt pop up in the kde, gnome and what other display manager menus. yes I realize it can be hidden and what not but I believe the current implementation to be intrusive. Thanks.
i can confirm that "bug" it's really anoying. please fix
sure it's a bug. But we don't want fixed uids/gids in our ebuilds so this isn't directly a cvs issue but rather an eutils.eclass issue, there is an effort to clear the situation up and people involved know about this for some time now, I am waiting for the solution to this problem just like you do :)
ok, it seems like it will take some more time since the issue is resolved eclass-wise, so I am going to add an uid/gid entry for the cvs user/pass in our eid_database... uid and gid will be 350 if there are no objections.
should be fixed with cvs-1.11.13, please give it a go :)
