nvidia have released a new beta Reproducible: Always
(In reply to comment #0) > nvidia have released a new beta http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=160209 270.30 (beta) for Linux x86/x86_64 released * Added support for xserver ABI 10 (xorg-server 1.10). * Dropped support for xserver ABI 9 (which was only used with xorg-server 1.10 RC2 due to a last-minute xserver change). ;)
*** Bug 358643 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Created attachment 266775 [details] nvidia-drivers-270.30.ebuild I was waiting on an ebuild before, but I figured I'd just do it myself. I just renamed the 270.18 ebuild to 270.30, and I changed the SRC_URI links to point to the FTP server since this driver doesn't appear to be on the Http site.
I should mention that this is working for me on ~amd64 with xorg-server-1.10 from the x11 overlay. Hopefully this ebuild can be merged into the overlay as well.
Can we see it in portage? Since xorg-server with ABI1.10 is already in portage, we do not have compatible nvidia-drivers for testing.
This works for me, too. I noticed 270.18 masked in Portage. Would like to see 270.30 unmasked in Portage.
There is an ebuild for 270.30 in the "stuff" overlay and it seems to work fine here.
The official, non-beta, driver release is 270.41.03 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122606 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2417099
I will bump it, did anyone tried it yet?
The bump is in. please report any bug.
yay, NVidia gets better at crashing my system. [ 1263.231318] gwibber-service[27589] trap invalid opcode ip:7fb97ff9db99 sp:7ffff69bc228 error:0 in libnvidia-glcore.so.270.41.03[7fb97fed1000+5e8000]
270.41.03 stops my GF 7300GS from even loading kde desktop - it stops on kde splash screen and nothing more happens (does not work with xorg-server 1.9.5 nor 1.10.0), however mouse and keyboard are usable all the time. nothing special in Xorg.log and kdm.log (downgrade to 260.44 solves the problem, and everything works as expected).
Works fine on 580. KDE4, GL, etc. No visible problems.

(In reply to comment #14) > @comment #12: > 7300 has a problem: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=160115 thanks for pointing that out, seems to be exactly the problem i'm facing.
Unfortunately 270.41.03 drivers were prematurely added by someone to the tree. However, 270.41.06 are now in the tree and should be used.
