Description Fab 2011-02-25 10:11:42 UTC
Hi,

I tried to build my gentoo-sources kernel without CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G (x86 system).

> -> Processor type and features
> -> High Memory Support (off)

Once this kernel was built, I tried to rebuild x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers,
it worked, but I got a warning :

> Warning : module nvidia.ko needs unknown symbol page_address

So I had to go back and rebuild my kernel with High Memory Support.

CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G (or CONFIG_HIGHMEM64G I guess) seems to be required by the drivers. Maybe the ebuild could check for this kernel option before building them, like it do with mtrr_check.

I found bug #100010 on the same subject. Thanks.

Reproducible: Always
