Evolution 1.5 is out. Version bump
Comment 1 Alastair Tse (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-09 10:02:27 UTC
it depends on experimental libraries, you won't see this in portage for quite a while.
Comment 2 Alastair Tse (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-09 10:02:58 UTC
can't reassign and close at the same time. doing it again.

why not bump it into unstable tree ?
Comment 9 Spider (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-06 23:44:52 UTC
first warning
~ != unstable

NOTHING goes into ~ that isn't ready for stable. The only reason for ~ was to avoid ebuild incompabilities between working versions.

its not "unstable". It shouldn't be. and if you treat it like that You should Stop AT Once and ..... *restrains himself*

I'll leave it to others to flame you.
Comment 10 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-07 02:16:30 UTC
Considering both 1.5 and 1.5.1 crash immediately on going tools->settings (meaning you cant edit accounts, set preferences.. generally set the thing up _at all_), even if by some miracle we saw if fit to put unstable series ebuilds in the tree, this _still_ wouldnt go in.

Like I said on some other bug requesting 1.5, I'm following the series with local ebuilds, so we'll be ready to go when 1.6/2 is released (if foser isnt too).
Comment 11 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-07 02:44:57 UTC
could you put the ebuilds to your public htmldir on dev box ?
Comment 12 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-26 05:35:50 UTC
1.5.2 is out
Comment 13 Xake 2004-06-14 18:31:51 UTC
Copied from the Evolution Roadmap.

---
July 12/04

    * Evolution 2.0.0
    * Evolution Data Server 1.0.0
---

This means that 2.0.0 is the next coming stable release and it is sheduled to the 12 of July....
...so I guess that there will be no new version of evolution in portage before that also meaning plp can stop asking for it until then, does it not?

Comment 16 Patrizio Bassi 2004-07-25 03:51:36 UTC
i simply dunno what to write else!

why? because in portage i see kde3.3.0_beta1 hardmasked
and kde3.3.0_beta2 unstable!!!

someone told me: we can't add evolution 1.5.9.x hardmasked because it needs 4-5 packages.

and kde? kde has about 10-15 ebuilds!
and a version, declared beta, is added as unstable.
in portage there are lots and lots of cvs snapshot and betapackages,
we can say that glibc and mplayer are only "unstable"

and there are so many problem to add evolution...a simple pim.
this is incredible.
Comment 17 Alastair Tse (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-25 08:09:34 UTC
i'm so tired of us explaining ourselves with regards to pre-release software. we are not the same as the kde herd, or the kernel herds or the others. each herd has their own policy regarding what packages to release depending on their ability to keep up with the prereleases. kde herd believes that they have enough man power to handle prerelease versions of kde, but we don't believe we do.

if you would like to be constructive here, i would appreciate if people actually submitted ebuilds of the required dependencies rather than complaining. i would be extremely happy to see that happen.

Comment 24 Joe McCann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-25 08:36:42 UTC
gentoo devs please tear these ebuilds apart and help clean up where needed. Maybe we can use this bug to make sure evolution-2.0 goes into the tree looking good. If not maybe it will at least make liquidx happy for a moment.
Comment 25 Alastair Tse (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-25 13:14:19 UTC
ok .. i'm impressed that someone responded with the right answer. now we're getting somewhere :)

i've gone through the ebuilds with some corrections. i'll post something up soon.
Comment 26 Alastair Tse (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-06 12:43:03 UTC
evolution 1.5.92.1 is now in portage along with various deps. it is hard masked. and also you've been warned, merging this will break evolution-1.4 because it conflicts with evolution-data-server. also there is no ximian-connector ebuild for 1.5.x atm.

btw, we're using libgtkhtml-3.1.x because libgtkhtml-3.3.x is more unstable than unstable, and it requires gnome 2.8 components.
Comment 27 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-06 23:44:05 UTC
I have an error building GAL with USE="doc", will look into it
Comment 28 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-07 00:07:18 UTC
Here's the error:

make[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/gal-2.1.13/work/gal-2.1.13/docs'
cd . \
&& gtkdoc-mkdb --module=gal-2.2 --source-dir=../gal
Can't open ./gal-2.2-decl.txt at /usr/bin/gtkdoc-mkdb line 2596.

It's because gal-2.2-decl.txt and gal-2.2-sections.txt don't exist, they're named gal-decl.txt and gal-sections.txt. Sorry I don't have more time to patch etc, gotta run. Will have to look at it later.

Comment 29 Andreas Kotowicz 2004-08-21 01:55:46 UTC
evolution-1.5.91 won't give me an evolution-1.5 programm. the ebuild will just install the libs into /usr/lib/evolution/1.5/
