I use Awn (avant-window-navigator) and since I'm not one of those silly ubuntu users who want to turn their linux machine into something that looks like a Mac I don't need/want gnome-panel. I can rip gnome-panel out of COMMON_DEPEND in gnome-power-manager' ebuild (2.32.0) and replace --enable-applets by --disable-applets and then gnome-power-manager installs fine. I guess the only change is that you don't get some applet. I still see g-p-m in the notification area. A USE keyword could be used to optionally depend on gnome-panel. This is almost the same as bug 352241 except that you also need to conditionally replace --enable-applets by --disable-applets in the ebuild (in pkg_setup()) Reproducible: Always
