Actual Results:  
Only Version games-strategy/triplea-1.0.0.3 in Portage which is quite old

Expected Results:  
New Version games-strategy/triplea-1.2.5.5 in Portage

ebuild patch from 1.0.0.3 to 1.2.5.5

This isn't great, but it's a start I think.
I'm not sure if jgoodies-looks is still required, this keeps a packaged jar (the java package "substance" isn't in the main tree), and I don't see an icon with my desktop entries.

I think this package can only use sun-jdk and not virtual/jdk.  The compiler warns about Sun proprietary API and, in order to run the server, it needs to have derby.jar (sun-jdk must be compiled with USE="derby").  I don't know how to put this in DEPEND though...

well part of this is easy.

try depending on java-virtuals/jdk-with-com-sun.  that will force a sun-jdk for compiling.   Then we need to figure out whether it will run on icedtea (for example).  Also need to look into derby and whether it is using derby or "javadb".
