* This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other * packages (see list below). You can use a command such as `portageq * owners / <filename>` to identify the installed package that owns a * file. If portageq reports that only one package owns a file then do * NOT file a bug report. A bug report is only useful if it identifies at * least two or more packages that are known to install the same file(s). * If a collision occurs and you can not explain where the file came from * then you should simply ignore the collision since there is not enough * information to determine if a real problem exists. Please do NOT file * a bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org unless you report exactly which * two packages install the same file(s). Once again, please do NOT file * a bug report unless you have completely understood the above message. * * Detected file collision(s): * * /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/protocols/16/facebook.png * /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/protocols/22/facebook.png * /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/protocols/48/facebook.png * * Searching all installed packages for file collisions... * * Press Ctrl-C to Stop * * x11-plugins/pidgin-facebookchat-1.69 * /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/protocols/16/facebook.png * /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/protocols/22/facebook.png * /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/protocols/48/facebook.png Reproducible: Always

Thanks for the report! Indeed pidgin 2.7.8 changelog states: # New UI hack to assist in first-time setup of Facebook accounts with icon from Jakub Szypulka. Current ebuilds of pidgin-facebookchat now depend on older versions, and I have added 1.69-r1 which does not install the icons anymore (and depend on >=pidgin-2.7.8)
also with newer versions of pidgin facebook is already included (through xmpp protocol). so pidgin-facebookchat isnt nessecarily needed with the newer versions. i just thought i would add that.

Diego, please, check that you have recent versions of software and reopen this bug, please, in case you have...
You forgot to add blockers to pidgin, so portage does not force unmerge or upgrade of facebookchat -> bug is still there.
Sigh I really need some holidays... Thanks Diego for catching this! @net-im, can you add "!<x11-plugins/pidgin-facebookchat-1.69-r1" to pidgin RDEPEND? @jeremy, pidgin-facebookchat ebuild already warns about this, in pkg_setup :)
Ok, thank you guys. Fixed.
