Description Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-01 22:25:17 UTC
Bryan's going to help the xfree herd with gatos, xfree-drm and similar things to start. He's already gotten most of the gatos stuff ready to go.

Name: Bryan Stine
E-mail: admin@kentonet.net
Location: TBA
IRC: autovoiced

The mentoring period will be posted as soon as I get a hold of Bryan.

Since he's been maintaining psad/bastille for me, it's prudent to put him through the hardened team's paces -- do what you do, guys
Comment 4 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-16 21:53:49 UTC
Batt: dev.gentoo.org/~avenj/quiz. Email to recruiters@g.o, sign w/ gpg key, attach SSH DSA pubkey. I might be tough to find over next weeks, but I'll definitely be around.

Hardened guys if you got anything more for him, shoot.
Comment 5 Joshua Brindle (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-18 12:26:19 UTC
after he is a dev we'll do the part time stuff in hardened. Thanks everyone and good luck battousai
Comment 6 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-19 02:57:44 UTC
OK, quiz is done, looks good.
Comment 7 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-24 11:18:17 UTC
As a note for our recruiters we like to gather a little more info than is on the standard quiz. We have higher expectations for our developers.

Comment 8 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-24 11:37:03 UTC
Perhaps "different" would be more appropriate than "higher" =)
Comment 9 Brandon Hale (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-24 12:57:39 UTC
Hmm, seems that quiz has the normal questions, but also
includes questions "above and beyond" the usual.

dictionary.com says:
"Entry: above
Function: preposition
Definition: higher"

Seems to fit ;)

Comment 10 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-24 13:08:46 UTC
That suggests that all hardened devs are better than other devs.

You sure about that?
Comment 11 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-24 17:23:25 UTC
Ack!@#$%

No that's not what I'm implying at all. I'm saying is basically our
team has a set of questions and info that we like to know about who we
are working with that is a tad beyond the normal 10 to 12 portage
related questions. This information is shared with the rest of the herd
as it helps us as a whole to have a better idea of who we are working
with.
For example the xfree herd could develop a set of questions that
pertain to the area that the xfree developer would be working in.
Comment 12 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-24 17:30:13 UTC
Avoiding confusion..
Ex: Does the hardened herd need an assembly guru on it's team?
Or do we need to continue to look for somebody that can fill this role
for the 2004 great PIC audit of the portage tree.
We can get a quick idea of this by simply looking at data we have on record.
Comment 13 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-24 19:19:19 UTC
Yes solar, I agree about the extra questions and it's a good idea, worth considering for the X team. Although instead of distributing a full regular questionnaire plus the security one, I'd probably ask them to obtain the original from its source and also an add-on from me, so I wouldn't need to check if the original changed at all.

It's just some ongoing fun between Brandon and I. =)

Please read http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/copyright-assignment.xml and print out the copyright assignment form at the bottom, sign it, scan it and email it to recruiters.

I lost track of Bryan's comment. My apologies.

Let's proceed with the retirement then.

Bryan, thank you for all your hard work and if you ever find the time to
get back, just reopen this bug.

Overlays done.
Access to the x11 git overlay has not been removed.
@X11: Do you guys want me to remove his commit access to the X11 repo?
Comment 27 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2012-03-06 22:22:40 UTC
Considering he has only x11 overlay 5 commits in total, and none in the last two years, you can remove him.
