This has been fixed in more recent versions of PHP, however the currently available ebuilds (php-5.2.14 & php-5.3.3-r1 & php-5.3.3-r2) are all broken. The ebuild version that I was using that did not have the bug is no longer avilable in the portage tree. I'm stuck with a broken system. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Described and patch available at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=52546 2. 3. When you reported this, you accidentally selected "Games" as the component. You've since changed it to "Ebuilds", but "Server" is the appropriate choice. And because you initially chose "Games", this bug is still currently assigned to games@gentoo.org. Developers quickly scan through bugs to assign them correctly. But when a developer sees that this bug has already been assigned, they might not notice that it has been assigned incorrectly. If I were you, I'd mark this bug as invalid and submit a new bug report. That way it will probably get the attention of the right person sooner.
This bug is now correctly assigned. Thanks to Tristan Heaven.
First: thanks for reporting this. I've taken the upstream patch and will include it in the next patchset, due today in php-5.3.3-r2. Let's see what I can do for 5.2.14. Leaving the bug open until the fixed 5.3.3 is available.
Versions containing the patch should be on a mirror near you soon.
