>>> Installing (2 of 2) sys-apps/man-pages-3.29
 * checking 2086 files for package collisions
1000 files checked ...
2000 files checked ...
 * This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other
 * packages (see list below). You can use a command such as `portageq
 * owners / <filename>` to identify the installed package that owns a
 * file. If portageq reports that only one package owns a file then do
 * NOT file a bug report. A bug report is only useful if it identifies at
 * least two or more packages that are known to install the same file(s).
 * If a collision occurs and you can not explain where the file came from
 * then you should simply ignore the collision since there is not enough
 * information to determine if a real problem exists. Please do NOT file
 * a bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org unless you report exactly which
 * two packages install the same file(s). Once again, please do NOT file
 * a bug report unless you have completely understood the above message.
 *
 * Detected file collision(s):
 *
 * 	/usr/share/man/man3/aio_init.3.gz
 *
 * Searching all installed packages for file collisions...
 *
 * Press Ctrl-C to Stop
 *
 * dev-libs/libaio-0.3.109
 * 	/usr/share/man/man3/aio_init.3.gz
 *
 * Package 'sys-apps/man-pages-3.29' NOT merged due to file collisions.
 * If necessary, refer to your elog messages for the whole content of the
 * above message.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =dev-libs/libaio-0.3.109

Same here.
Comment 2 Mike Auty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-10-21 10:37:51 UTC
Unfortunately libaio is maintainer-needed and has no herd, so I'm assigning this to base-system who own man-pages...
Comment 3 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-10-21 11:16:02 UTC
aio_init in man-pages is for glibc (-lrt) function so that should stay.
therefore libaio should rename it's manpage to something else.

removes man page conflicting with package man-pages

additionally remove the aio_init man page (same strategy as already used for the other man pages provided by man-pages)
