Description Patrizio Bassi 2010-10-15 08:10:54 UTC
Please bump mesa to latest 7.9 version containing several improvements and compatibility enhancements

Mesa 7.9 suffers from https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30552 which breaks VMware users.
Comment 2 Patrizio Bassi 2010-10-16 08:44:51 UTC
ok, but at the end, comment 7 that's a patch. in case it's not integrated in 7.9 vanilla maybe gentoo can locally apply.
Comment 3 Slavko Glamocanin 2010-10-16 10:55:14 UTC
Why not add the ebuild as unstable or masked?

Thank you.
Comment 4 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2010-10-16 15:28:16 UTC
We can either wait for mesa-7.9.1 or add the patch to the ebuild. Until a decision has been made, you can install 7.9 from the x11 overlay.
Comment 5 Andrew Walker 2010-11-12 15:44:18 UTC
The previous version of mesa is causing major headaches for Intel chipsets and KDE users, see bug 337055 which is probably a bigger problem than the vmware one so I vote release as unstable with a patch.
Comment 6 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2010-11-28 21:38:28 UTC
Fixed in CVS.

Solution of the vmware issue has been deferred to a future update.
