Description Andrew Davis 2010-10-02 04:05:41 UTC
I'm attempting to install dev-libs/blitz in my prefix, so I used 'ecopy dev-libs/blitz' in my local overlay. When running 'emerge -va blitz', it gets to '>>> Completed installing blitz-0.9-r3 into /Users/andrew/Gentoo/var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/blitz-0.9-r3/image/Users/andrew/Gentoo/', then 'QA Notice: invalid self-reference install_name /Users/andrew/Gentoo/usr/lib/libblitz.0.dylib in /Users/andrew/Gentoo/Users/andrew/Gentoo/usr/lib/libblitz.0.0.0.dylib'. The complete build log is attached.

I'm not sure how to proceed, any advice is appreciated.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. ecopy dev-libs/blitz in overlay
2. emerge -va blitz

Actual Results:
error listed above

Expected Results:
successful emerge

here is the output of emerge -pqv =dev-libs/blitz-0.9-r3:
[ebuild N ] dev-libs/blitz-0.9-r3 USE="-debug -doc -examples"

and the output of emerge --info =dev-libs/blitz-0.9-r3:

I spotted several occurrences of '/Users/andrew/Gentoo/Users/andrew/Gentoo/' which looks like double prefix to me.

In src_install you need to use DESTDIR="${D}" instead of DESTDIR="${ED}", since configure was already provided with the --prefix=${EPREFIX} offeset (the result would then be ${ED}/${EPREFIX}, which is basically ${D}/${EPREFIX}/${EPREFIX}). Though I would've expected portage to complain about the double prefix before checking and failing at the (correct) install_name of the library.
Comment 3 Andrew Davis 2010-10-02 20:45:41 UTC
Thanks for the help. I had tried replacing ${ED} with ${D} in src_install previously, but I then got a different error, with emerge complaining that it was installing files outside the prefix, in /usr/share/doc/blitz-0.9-r3/html.

I had thought this meant I was doing something wrong, but your suggestion gave me the confidence that I was on the right track, and looking closer, what I actually had to do was manually add $EPREFIX before the docdir=/usr/... install path. blitz now emerges fine -- I'll describe the steps I did in more detail in a moment.

Steps I used to import the ebuild:

1. ecopy dev-libs/blitz. I've attached the ecopy output if that's helpful
2. edited the DESTDIR and docdir paths, diff is attached

blitz now emerges. Thanks!

Thanks, I ran into the same problem and using the ${EPREFIX} in front of the docdir worked.

Could we ask for this package to be included in the main prefix tree?

Best regards,
Guilherme

done, thanks.
