I am using enotice (i know, deprecated); but elog* users should have the same message: Package: adobe-flash-10.2.161.22_pre20100915 * Using adobe-flash-10.1 in a 64-bit browser is unstable: * http://bugs.gentoo.org/324365 * The recommended configuration is to use the 32-bit plugin * in a 32-bit browser such as www-client/firefox-bin * Flash player is closed-source, with a long history of security * issues. Please consider only running flash applets you know to * be safe. The 'flashblock' extension may help for mozilla users: * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433 At least, the message should tell about 10.2 ... at worts, maybe, the message itself is compleetely deprecated ?
Good catch! In fact, that whole branch of code is deprecated... If you are installing the 64-bit version, we specifically do *NOT* want to install nspluginwrapper with the 32-bit version! Changed the logic to do the right thing (Only install nspluginwrapper if no 64-bit version is installed), and also removed that deprecated warning. Fixed in the next version (10.2.161.23_pre20100927)
Maybe 64b only versions should block nspluginwrapper ? I had nspluginwrapper installed previously; if some update of nspluginwrapper remerge it, maybe this can cause problems on my nox and i should remove it ? or not ...
I don't think we can block nspluginwrapper, since it may still be needed for the acroread plugin or other 32-bit-only plugins. Also, nspluginwrapper will already uninstall any wrappers for 32-bit plugins that have a 64-bit native equivalent as part of its 'autoinstall' phase. So I think we're safe as-is.
But feel free to try re-installing nspluginwrapper manually and see what the result is. The intent is: -> If you have 32b flash and no 64b flash, you get a wrapper for it. -> If you have 64b flash, you should never get a wrapper for flash, regardless of whether the 32b flash is installed or not. Please shout loudly if this is not the case :)
