Description Dennis Schridde 2010-09-19 11:20:12 UTC
At the end of installing cross-i686-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-4.5.1:
sed: can't read //etc/make.conf: No such file or directory

My make.conf is in /etc/portage/make.conf now, which is a valid location (sys-apps/portage-2.2_rc84, see man 5 make.conf).

Reproducible: Always

Correction: The program causing this seems to be gcc-config, not the gcc ebuild itself.
In try_real_hard_to_find_CHOST() it runs sed on conf=${ROOT}/etc/make.conf.
Instead it should probably look for /etc/portage/make.conf, if that does not exist fall back to /etc/make.conf, and if that's also missing abort with an error. (The test should be added before the ret=$(source "${conf}" 2>/dev/null ; echo ${!varname}) line.)
