I have the same issue here. BTW, the arping in net-misc/iputils-20100418 does not work as expected, compare Bug 334051, while the arping2 from net-analyzer/arping
works:
root@condor:/usr/local/portage/sci-misc(69)# qlist net-analyzer/arping
/usr/sbin/arping2

Perhaps the manpage arping.8.bz2
of net-analyzer/arping could be renamed to
manpage arping2.8.bz2.

I'm assigning this to netmon, since it seems to be arping that's changed the manpage/binary from arping2 to arping (the binaries don't collide because one's in /sbin and the other's in /usr/sbin). I've CCed base-system, since they handle iputils.

Ouch.
Comment 6 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-15 01:34:54 UTC
I thought I was being smart since the build system has improved so much. It's back to the old newsbin arping arping2 now. I have also added a comment in src_install() to prevent future trouble. Thanks for reporting.

It's fixed in net-analyzer/arping-2.09-r1.

Curious so much later and it's still not appeared in the portage tree...

It wasn't even 30 minutes since when you commented.

Apologies if that is too short to expect "resolved" and "pushed to tree" to sync.

it is. if you want faster, become a developer and help out. otherwise, please wait patiently & quietly.

Thanks for fix.
