Stabilize dev-libs/nettle-2.1
Comment 1 David Abbott (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-14 23:37:06 UTC
All good x86.
Comment 2 Christian Faulhammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-15 13:21:10 UTC
dev-lang/pike will not build with any version of dev-libs/nettle-2*, so stabilisation is moot. However, there is a version not-yet-in-tree available that claims to support it. Removing all arches, until this is resolved...
Comment 3 Arfrever Frehtes Taifersar Arahesis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-03-25 01:20:55 UTC
Nettle is the default crypto backend of GnuTLS 2.12.
Comment 4 Agostino Sarubbo gentoo-dev 2011-03-25 11:02:38 UTC
amd64 ok
Comment 5 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-03-25 12:03:02 UTC
amd64 done. Thanks Agostino
Comment 6 Andreas Schürch gentoo-dev 2011-03-25 12:16:33 UTC
Faulis complaint is still true here!
There is no version of dev-lang/pike in the tree that builds with dev-libs/nettle-2.1!

dev-libs/nettle-2.0 is already stable, so it's natural to stabilize dev-libs/nettle-2.1.

Yes, but if someone installs pike, it will alway downgrade nettle again...

So, file a stabilisation request for newer pike. If I am not mistaken this should break the vicious circle.

Stable on alpha.
Comment 11 Brent Baude (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-03-27 19:06:52 UTC
ppc stable

Unfortunately the newest version in the tree (although just ~x86 atm) is also the latest upstream and it carries a DEPEND="<=dev-libs/nettle-2.0" with it.
Pike itself doesn't have stable rdeps... so maybe it would be the best to also drop stable on pike for the moment?!

Ok, so I checked again. The newest pike is compatible with 2.0, so it should go stable anyway. I haven't checked if nettle 2.1 is covered, too. So:

Newer pike has to go stable.
Newer nettle only if it works with pike.

I tried to build the newest pike once with nettle-2.1 (modified the ebuild to not downgrade...) without any luck! :-(
Comment 15 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-03-30 17:13:02 UTC
Stable for HPPA.
Comment 16 Michael Weber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-04 07:20:33 UTC
arm/sparc stable
Comment 17 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-02 16:25:48 UTC
ppc64 stable (as dev-lang/pike is not even keyworded for the arch, the issues raised here don't concern us)
Comment 18 Thomas Kahle (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-07-20 13:35:26 UTC
x86 will pass.
Comment 19 Raúl Porcel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-07-24 10:28:22 UTC
ia64/s390/sh stable, closing
