Description:   Opened: 2003-11-15 20:51 0000
When I try to emerge dev-db/firebird, it fails to compile completely and I get
this error:

Building the QLI help database...
sh -c ' source/interbase/bin/gbak source/qli/master_help_db
source/interbase/help/help.gbak'
gbak: ERROR: Your user name and password are not defined. Ask your database
administrator to set up a Firebird login.
gbak: Exiting before completion due to errors
make: *** [help] Error 1

!!! ERROR: dev-db/firebird-1.0.3 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 40, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)

I have posted a full compile log to my website at:
http://www.absolutek.ca/compile.log (1710861 bytes).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge dev-db/firebird
Actual Results:
The compile fails with this error message:

Building the QLI help database...
sh -c ' source/interbase/bin/gbak source/qli/master_help_db
source/interbase/help/help.gbak'
gbak: ERROR: Your user name and password are not defined. Ask your database
administrator to set up a Firebird login.

make: *** [help] Error 1

!!! ERROR: dev-db/firebird-1.0.3 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 40, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)

Expected Results:
It should have finished emerge'ing the software into my system and made it ready
to use.

------- Comment #2 From Joshua Kinard 2003-11-15 23:04:18 0000 -------
dev-db/firebird isn't a Mozilla thing; re-assigning to the maintainer in
metadat.xml.

------- Comment #3 From Meir Kriheli 2003-11-18 04:14:06 0000 -------
Do you have a previous install of firebird ?

------- Comment #4 From Chase Hargraves 2003-11-18 09:37:27 0000 -------
I do not have a previous install of Firebird.

------- Comment #5 From Meir Kriheli 2003-11-24 01:36:07 0000 -------
Is it persistent every time you try to emerge it ?

I've gone over the output you linked to, and can't
find a reason why it should loose the admin user/pass
which is reported correctly at the begining of the build
process (which I truely hate :-/ ).

------- Comment #6 From Chase Hargraves 2003-11-26 17:03:50 0000 -------
This bug occurs every time I try to install Firebird.

------- Comment #7 From Sokoloff 2003-12-02 06:36:57 0000 -------
I had same problem.
I have changed in a file /etc/make.conf a line
CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe"
to a line
CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4  -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe"

Now all

------- Comment #8 From Sokoloff 2003-12-02 06:36:57 0000 -------
I had same problem.

Now all ÎÊ.

------- Comment #9 From Chase Hargraves 2003-12-07 19:37:02 0000 -------
After setting my CFLAGS environment variable to:

CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4  -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe"

I have found that Firebird compiles fine (don't know why, but atleast it compiles).

Perhaps the ebuild should have a notice for users to change their CFLAGS? or over ride the users CFLAGS?

------- Comment #10 From Meir Kriheli 2003-12-09 02:17:48 0000 -------
Seems -funroll-loops is the source of the problem.

I can't reproduce on my machine, which uses gcc 3.3.2
right now. Could be an issue with gcc 3.2.3 ?

Added strip-flags to the ebuild which removes
-funroll-loops.

If you can, please rsync and test with your original
set of CFLAGS and report the outcome here. 10x

BTW
sokoloff, 10x for the info. You can report such
incidents to the maintainer, and have the fix added to
the ebuild ;-)

Looks like no further comments on this.
