since epmd is potentially needed by multiple erlang applications and will - by default - be started implicit by the first application that is started on the system.

i'm currently facing the problem that starting rabbitmq as non-root results in an epmd also running as non-root (or rather the rabbitmq user), which is probably not a good idea.

please see the attached init script.

Acknowledged. As a major version bump is due on 15 Sep 2010, see bug 325073, I will do the bump together with the init script.
