Description Fab 2010-08-03 14:12:32 UTC
On my system, gnome-light is built with automount useflag.
I just rebuilt my world with USE="-hal" and get rid of sys-apps/hal.
In the same time, --depclean removed virtual/eject from my system.

Now, when I insert a cd into the dvd-writer, the automount feature of
gnome works. When I right clic on the icon on the desktop, the menu
appear. Then if I clic on 'eject' it fails with a popup saying :

> Error starting job: Failed to execute child process "eject"
> (No such file or directory)

Obviously running :

> emerge --oneshot virtual/eject

fix the problem until next --depclean.

gnome-light built with automount useflag should RDEPEND on virtual/eject.
(and maybe the gnome meta ebuild also ?)

Thanks.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Rebuild your world with USE="-hal" and get rid of sys-apps/hal
2. Insert a cd and test the automount feature of gnome
3. Try to eject the cd from the desktop icon menu

I think this is because gvfs with udev backend requires eject to be pulled
Comment 2 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-08-31 21:51:09 UTC
ultimetaly, gvfs calls gdu which sends dbus messages to org_freedesktop_UDisks_Device_drive_eject_async, so it should be up to udisk to provide this utility I guess.

Makes sense, freedesktop team, what do you think about making udisks RDEPEND on eject?
