Description Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-07-31 11:47:12 UTC
As per summary, please proceed.
Latest from 1.7 series with all currently availible patches. Since we wont stable 1.8 series, this xorg will be with us for a while :]

I faintly remember having run into this before....now is the time to fix this.
Comment 5 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-08-02 15:55:04 UTC
I can't reproduce it

[ebuild U ] x11-base/xorg-server-1.7.7-r1 [1.7.6] USE="hal ipv6 nptl sdl tslib* xorg -debug -dmx -kdrive -minimal" 0 kB

Can you please post your emerge -pv xorg-server? Maybe there is a useflag combination that triggers this
Comment 6 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-08-02 19:31:11 UTC
USE=tslib doesn't do anything unless USE=kdrive is also enabled.

Cheers
Comment 7 Myckel Habets 2010-08-02 20:11:15 UTC
-dmx -kdrive -xorg is also not so nice (ebuild fails), I think it would be better to have something selected as the "default" when the use flags are set like that.

The xorg-server ebuild has had this behavior for years (literally). While we could probably "fix" this issue, I definitely don't consider this a blocker for this stabilization list.

Thanks

What about the --as-needed issues? They are no regression so I will mark it stable, but you should fix it nonetheless.

Previous version (1.7.6) was building fine with USE="hal ipv6 kdrive nptl sdl xorg -debug -dmx -minimal -tslib".
I needed to disable kdrive to build this one, but it's a required USE for stable >=app-admin/sabayon-2.28.1 (part of gnome-base/gnome).

(x86, nothing special in compiler flags)

The error I got (WARNING: unreadable junk chars) :

As you saw, the error seems to come when compiling 'kmap.o' in the 'kdrive' target.

I'm sorry; that's not a xorg-server error : I tried again with CCACHE_RECACHE set and it worked.

Should I clear the whole cache or can I trust the other files ?

emerge --info is there : http://korbian.free.fr/emerge.info_100808

The same bug to me. Here is my emerge --info http://pastebin.ca/1914533
Comment 16 Anton Kropachev 2010-08-11 15:22:31 UTC
Emerged without errors but after some time work process X begins to load the CPU to 70-80 percent and above.
With 1.6.5 all fine.
