KKBswitch isx a keyboard switcher for kde.

It doesn't load the complete layout like kde's kxkb,
resulting in a faster (and lighter) switching,
instrad it uses the already configured layouts in
XF86Config.

Since the change in keyboard layout handling in xfree-4.3.0
kxkb can't handle it, and is useless (many Hebrew layout
users for example remove it, since they can't switch back).

Suggested category: x11-misc ?

Reproducible: Always

Switching (back) is possible with xfree-4.3.0/kxkb, even for hebrew layout -
you just have to notice that to switch back you have to assign a secondary
key-combo relative to the new layout.
It doesn't scale very well, but it works for two layouts.
also if you assign an key-combo that doesn't change between layouts, you
eliminate the problem.

anyway, I'm using kxkb, so I'm off this bug.

FYI, ebuild from bug 51734 works for me, even for kkbswitch-1.4.2. Are there
any problems with merging this application into portage tree? This is the only
way to perform exactly same as windoze do by default, AFAIK...

My congrats to all, a new version of this superb program - kkbswitch - is out -
version 1.4.3! Just rename, as it is done as usual, kkbswitch ebuild to reflect
a newer version :) works fine for me here! ;) (Gentoo rules - when it comes to
customizability + to the possibility to choose among many packages and software
- all about the liberty :))

Oh, it isn't still in a portage, what an omission :(! Hope to see it there!

Great! I cannot live without it :-) How is it possible to get this package to
portage tree? Further donation? (Gentoo CD with hyper-airbrushed Logo is really
cool) ;-)

------- Comment #7 From Simone Gotti (RETIRED) 2005-01-28 12:29:49 0000 -------
