When built with USE=-consolekit, bluez adds a dbus policy for the plugdev group (thus enabling non-root use, see bug 283744 (where I reported this in a comment, before filing this bug)). But the elog messages for -consolekit say "Since you have the consolekit use flag disabled, you will only be able to run bluetooth clients as root (...)", still not mentioning that being member of plugdev is enough.
Created attachment 238327 [details, diff] Changes bluez-4.66-r1.ebuild elog messages to say plugdev membership works with -consolekit. I added an attachment with a possible patch to fix this (the same I added in bug 283744, but against the ebuild which is now stable in amd64).
